Taylor was on my Class of 2020 model team and was an absolute blast at every session, so I was thrilled when her Mom texted and asked about a session for her graduation from the University of Memphis’s nursing school. Meeting to plan the session was so fun and much simpler than planning a high school senior session.
Spring can be so iffy weather wise but we lucked out with only a few sprinkles of rain and soft cloud cover. The intermittent breeze was welcome, even if it wasn’t helpful later in the evening.
The campus has changed so much since I graduated many years ago but it still feels so special. The tiger statues are adorable and add character to the grounds. There’s even an Elvis one inside the student center!
My nursing graduates are some of the hardest working students I’ve ever met and Taylor is no exception. She started school during the pandemic and had to face all the challenges that came with, along with being in one thehte toughest majors there is. But she persevered and was drawn to the emergency department. There’s no doubt in my mind that she’s going to be an incredible asset wherever she goes.
The pedestrian bridge on campus has been on my location list since it was finished and I was lucky enough to photograph on it last fall. The dramatic lighting is beautiful at night and perfect for epic images. We had done the parachute skirt at one of Taylor’s high school sessions and Mom loved them. The bridge was a flawless backdrop for the parachute skirt, even with the unpredictable wind that day. Dad had tagged along on the shoot and was put in charge of being the skirt tosser and did an incredible job.
